Slopify

Slopify was a website that anybody could change. In the beginning, it looked quite simple:

A very chaotic website. It shows ...

One day later, there was already ..., ... and ...:

A very chaotic website. It shows ...

Visiting the site felt very intimate to me. I felt like I was one of only a few people who would ever see the very specific version I was looking at.

After a week, ...

A very chaotic website. It shows ...

XYZ later, they also started developing a ...

A very chaotic website. It shows ...

Fun went on for XYZ weeks. XYZ developers contributed to the project in total. The last change was made on XYZ by a person called XYZ. The site now featured ...

A very chaotic website. It shows ...

The desktop app now featured ...

One day later, the owner of the git repository (?, explanation) seemingly removed the entire history of the project and wrote a commit titled "BIG BANG" (todo!).

Luckily, there are plenty of forks of the project that still contain it's history. I've put together a website where you can see how the website changed over it's lifetime:

  • Season 1

(I'm aware this kind of ruins why Slopify felt special to me, but I feel like more people should be able to enjoy the site.)
